ABOUT BLOOM

Built for Girls'

Emotional World

Bloom addresses the specific emotional landscape girls navigate at ages 9-12, shifting friendships, social comparison, and the beginning of adolescent change, in a safe girls-only space rooted in faith.

Identify & name emotions

Expand vocabulary far beyond "mad, sad, happy"- including where emotions speak in the body.

Understand triggers & patterns

Connect feelings to events, thoughts, and body signals using the simplified CBT triangle.

Build a personal Bloom Toolbox

Each girl creates her own personalized set of calming strategies she can use at home, at school, and with friends.

Journal & pray her emotions to God

The two-step prayer teaches girls to externalize emotions and bring them to God, a skill for a lifetime.

WHY THIS MATTERS?

Why do emotions need to be managed?

Emotions are powerful- and let unnamed or unmanaged, they can shape a girl's choices, relationships, and sense of self without her realizing it. Learning to manage emotions is one of the most important life skills we can give our daughters.

Skills learned young

last a lifetime

Girls who learn to identify and manage

their emotions make batter decisions, handle conflict more calmly, bounce

back from setbacks faster, and build stronger, healthier friendships.

Unnamed feelings

don't disappear

Feelings that go unrecognized, find

another way out- as anxiety, anger, withdrawal, or physical symptoms.

Naming and processing emotions

reduces their intensity and gives girls

back a sense of control.

Faith grows deeper through emotion

When girls learn to bring their real feelings to God, - not just their Sunday feelings,- their faith becomes personal and alive. Bloom teaches prayer as a daily tool for navigating the honest and hard moments of life.

Research shows that children who receive explicit skills instructions demonstrate measurably low anxiety, fewer behavioral challenges, stronger academic focus, and significantly higher self- esteem, especially during the critical ages of 9-12.

A SIGNATURE BLOOM PRACTICE

The Two-Step Prayer

Used in every session and sent home every week, girls learn to externalize their emotions and bring them to God.

Two steps. A skill for life.

1

JOURNAL IT

Write your emotions down.

Girls write freely in their personal Bloom journal in response to a guided prompt. Putting an emotion into words externalizes it, moving it from inside the body onto the page where it can be seen, named, and understood. This is grounded in expressive writing research and practiced every session.

"One feeling I have been carrying lately is...

When I feel it, my body feels like..."

2

PRAY IT

Give it to God.

Girls bring what they just wrote to God in prayer, in their words, using a guided prompt. This teaches girls that God is safe to bring every emotion to, that prayer is a form of release, and that they do not have to carry hard feelings alone. Faith and skill-building practice work together.

"God, here is what I've been feeling. I give it to you.

Thank you for being close to me, even in this"

THE 8-WORKSHOP JOURNEY

Every session has a purpose.

A carefully sequenced curriculum that builds week by week, from understanding emotions all the way to celebrating growth and using every tool with confidence.

Use the CBT triangle to connect events, thoughts, and feelings. Explore triggers common to girls: friendships, comparison, pressure.

Jeremiah 29:11

90 - MINUTE RHYTHM

A consistent structure

girls can count on.

Every Bloom workshop follows the same arc,

so girls always know what to expect and feel safe to open up.

Same beginning, same ending, every time.

For parents:

how you can support

Parents are not required at sessions- but they are an essential part of Bloom. Every week, your daughter brings home a handout designed to help you practice together.

  • Review the week's Bible verse and skill summary together

  • Use the conversation starters on the handout to open a dialogue

  • Try the week's practice activity- she teaches you what she learned

  • Practice the Two-Step Prayer together

  • A brief check-in with the facilitator is available before or after any session

The most powerful thing you can do is practice alongside your daughter- not as a task, but as a habit you share together.

SAMPLE OF PRACTICE AT-HOME HANDOUT

Something to practice at home

every single week.

Every workshop ends with a handout, the verse, the skill, and conversation starters.

A weekly practice, and the Two-Step Prayer to try at home together.
